Coming in May 2023, Wellington Comic Opera brings Pirates of Penzance back with a vengeance…

Get ready to be raided – corporate raided.

Our pirates are dressed for the office and ready to stage an aggressive takeover for your assets. In this new adaptation of Pirates from Director Alison Hodge, our pirates have more refined tastes (though the legality is still so-so). Hold onto your wallets and join us in a journey to (dubious) morality.

November 2022 saw us present a very successful couple of concerts in Lower Hutt’s St Marks Church, and the Khandallah Town Hall. The concerts went out as:

“Please sir, I want some more…”

Sixteen singers performed songs from Oliver, HMS Pinafore, Kiss Me Kate, Show Boat, and the Gondoliers. Guest staff Barbara Graham performed for music director Lesley Graham, and accompanist Robyn Jacquiery.

Below are a couple of photos from the concerts. Top: Regan Gardner performs as Ellie in ‘Life Upon the Wicked Stage’ from Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II’s Showboat. Middle: Barbara Graham (as Casilda) and Vincent Wong (as Luiz) sing ‘Oh Rapture!’ from Gilbert & Sullivan’s Gondoliers. Bottom: the cast perform ‘Who will buy’ from Lionel Bart’s Oliver!
