Coming in May 2023, Wellington Comic Opera brings Pirates of Penzance back with a vengeance…

Get ready to be raided – corporate raided.

Our pirates are dressed for the office and ready to stage an aggressive takeover for your assets. In this new adaptation of Pirates from Director Alison Hodge, our pirates have more refined tastes (though the legality is still so-so). Hold onto your wallets and join us in a journey to (dubious) morality.

Tarantara and More

Wellington Comic Opera will be returning for another 90 minute concert in early December.  
Eighteen talented singers will sing favourite selections from The MikadoSouth PacificFiddler on the Roof, Carousel, and The Pirates of Penzance. 
Musical Director is Lesley Graham and Accompanist is Robyn Jacquiery. The concert will feature most of the leads from our forthcoming Pirates of Penzance show, now scheduled for May 2023.  
Exact venues and performance times have yet to be confirmed, but we will be performing at:
Central Baptist Church, Boulcott St , Wellington
St Mark’s Church, Woburn Rd, Lower Hutt
St Paul’s Church, Kapiti Road Paraparaumu 

Information on ticket prices and options for purchasing tickets will be published a few months out from the performances.

Our group is part of the Wellington Gilbert & Sullivan Light Opera Society, which has thrilled audiences across New Zealand since 1957. Throughout our history, we have put on professional quality shows relying on a number of regular performers who have had principal and sub-principal roles in national and regional opera companies and in the region’s more prominent musical societies.
